Position Overview

We are looking for a Chief Sustainability Officer to lead our fast-paced and dynamic team. This is a senior position and you will be heading a team of analysts from Canada. As a subject matter expert and representative of the company, you will design systems, structure the consulting team, perform and review lifecycle assessment (LCAs) in the fashion sector. You are motivated to put your consulting and analysis skills to work towards our mission of building a sustainable future.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain the internal and external network of life cycle assessment practitioners to ensure proper alignment and coordination and to supplement internal capacity.
  • Develop plans and deliver results in a fast-changing business or regulatory environment, while leading and developing a team of experienced professionals and supervisors, coaching and making decisions related to talent management hiring, performance and disciplinary actions.
  • Perform comparative life cycle assessments for Green Story clients focusing on the textile sector with cradle-to-gate and cradle-to-grave analyses.
  • Perform product LCAs of various products and systems including complex novel technologies, materials, and production processes from the fashion sector
  • Plan and execute complex LCA projects from start to finish.
  • Support and manage clients’ interactions, such as project meetings/calls, workshops, suppliers’ engagement, etc.
  • Conduct technical research for impact assessments.
  • Compile, verify, and interpret analysis results to offer clients findings and insights.
  • Create reports and/or oversee report creation for client LCAs declaring all assumptions and tools used and work continuously to improve reporting.
  • Work with the product team to build out the product roadmap and strategic direction of the company
  • Identify needs, develop and deliver internal and/or client- facing training on key LCA topics.
  • Attend board sessions, strategy meetings and participate in webinars, fireside chats, and interviews in the press to ensure development, promote awareness, and alignment of Green Story's vision

Qualifications & skills

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in performing LCA, managing, interpreting, and communicating on complex LCA assessments.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on textile industry experience. In-depth understanding of a wide range of textile production processes and value chains.
  • Experience in a leadership role in an environmental or LCA consulting firm such as Head of LCA, Head of Sustainability or similar positions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English

Education

  • PhD. in sustainability, environment or similar fields.

Terms of Employment

  • Permanent
  • $200,000CAD
  • Fulltime, 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 9AM-5PM.
  • 20% bonus, depending on company performance.
